Things to Consider Before Porting
When you port your phone number:
The number can no longer be used with your previous phone provider once the port is complete.
You will lose access to the number through your previous phone system/carrier.
The porting process can take up to four weeks, depending on your current provider and whether additional documentation is required.
During the porting process, you should continue using your existing phone service until the port has been completed.
How to Port a Phone Number into LeadSimple
Step 1: Collect the Necessary Documentation & Info
You'll need to collect the following documents:
The phone number's authorized user or owner’s first and last name
The corresponding service address. This must be an actual physical address. PO Boxes are not valid addresses.
A Letter of Authorization (LOA) signed by the authorized user and/or owner of the number(s). Note that the information on the LOA must match the authorized user name and service address provided by your current carrier
A Customer Service Record (CSR) which you'll need to obtain from your current carrier
A scanned (or electronic) copy of the most recent phone bill, within the last 30 days, that includes the account, owner/authorized user name, and address information for all the numbers you’d like to port
Wireless Account Number and PIN (alternatively, if there’s no PIN you can use the last 4 digits of your SSN)
Before You Submit Your LOA
The majority of port delays occur because the information on the LOA doesn't exactly match the information your current provider has on file.
Before submitting, verify the following:
✅ The authorized user's name matches your provider's/carriers records exactly.
✅ The service address exactly matches the address associated with the phone numbers.
✅ The phone numbers listed are accurate.
✅ If porting more numbers than fit on the LOA, include the remaining numbers on an additional page.
✅ Ensure the LOA is signed by the authorized user.
Note: In some cases, the information shown on your Customer Service Record (CSR) may differ from what you expect. If there are discrepancies between your documentation, the port request may be rejected until the information is corrected.
If you're unsure which information should be used, contact your current provider before submitting your request.
Step 2: Provide the Documentation to LeadSimple
Once you've collected the above information, email the following to support@leadsimple.com:
Signed Letter of Authorization (LOA)
Customer Service Record (CSR)
Recent phone bill
Wireless account number and PIN (if applicable)
Our team will review your documentation before submitting the port request.
If additional information or corrections are required, we'll contact you before resubmitting to help avoid unnecessary delays.
What Happens if the Port Request Is Rejected?
Occasionally, a port request may be rejected due to information mismatches or provider validation requirements.
Common reasons include:
The authorized user's name does not match the provider's records.
The service address differs from the address on file.
The phone numbers listed are incomplete or incorrect.
Required documentation is missing or unsigned.
There is already an active port request associated with the number.
If this happens, we'll work with you to determine what needs to be updated before resubmitting the request.
Important: If a previous port request has already been cancelled or rejected, a completely new port request may be required rather than simply updating the existing one. Our Support team will advise you if this applies to your request.
Step 3: Port Approval -Begin Using the Phone Number in LeadSimple
Once the request has been approved, we'll receive a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) date indicating when the numbers will transfer.
We'll notify you of:
Your scheduled port date.
Any actions required before the transfer.
When you can begin using the number in LeadSimple once the port-in is complete.
