In some cases, you might notice that an email imported into your Inbox is missing the message body or appears blank. This can happen due to the way the original email was formatted by the sender.
What’s Causing This?
Some emails use unusual HTML formatting where they wrap the message content in <nobr>
tags (a type of HTML tag that prevents text from breaking onto a new line). While these tags might work fine in certain email clients like Gmail, they don't follow standard best practices for email formatting and can cause emails to be imported blank into Inbox.
To protect you from potentially unsafe or nonstandard HTML, our system processes incoming emails using a sanitation tool. This tool removes any suspicious or non-compliant code to ensure your inbox remains secure and reliable, so, during this sanitization process, these unusual <nobr>
tags and the text inside them can be stripped out. As a result, the email may appear to have no body, even though content was originally present.
How Can This Be Prevented?
While you can’t control how others format their emails, if you notice this happening repeatedly from a particular sender or service, we recommend reaching out to the sender and suggesting they avoid using <nobr>
tags or non-standard HTML in their emails.
