Respond to texts with AI

Turn on AI text replies for a phone number and understand when the agent will or will not reply.

AI text replies let the AI Agent respond to inbound SMS messages sent to an enabled LeadSimple phone number.

Turn on AI text replies

  1. Open Settings > Phone.

  2. Expand the phone number.

  3. Confirm the number supports SMS.

  4. Turn on Respond to texts with AI.

The phone number does not have to route voice calls to the AI Agent for AI text replies to work.

What the agent uses

When the agent writes a text reply, it can use the latest inbound text, recent conversation history, matched contact or deal context, and your AI Agent knowledge base.

When the agent will not reply

  • The inbound message has no text, such as a media-only message.

  • The message is an opt-out keyword such as STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE.

  • A team member has replied from the Inbox in the same conversation within the last 24 hours.

  • The phone number cannot send outbound SMS because of account or compliance restrictions.

Follow-up actions from texts

After sending a reply, the agent can create a lead, task, or work order when the conversation calls for follow-up. If the needed setup is missing, LeadSimple creates a task instead so your team still has something to review.

Monitor conversations

AI text replies should reduce first-response work, not replace team review. Keep an eye on conversations and turn the setting off for a number if your team wants to handle texts manually.
