Engagement Triggers are a setting in LeadSimple pipeline stages that will move a lead to a different stage if they:

  • Open an email a certain number of times

  • Click link(s) in your email a certain number of times

  • OR reply to an email or text a certain number of times

You can set these up however you like in each individual stage in your pipelines.

When to Use Engagement Triggers

Engagement triggers are especially helpful when working with cold prospects. Once a prospect engages with your content, engagement triggers can move them to a different stage that will let you know that they are interested and remind you to follow up with them!

For this article, we're using our free email series Education Nurture - 10 Mistakes a DIY Landlord can Make.

If a cold prospect is receiving these emails and shows interest by clicking on links, opening the emails multiple times, or replying to an email, I want to be notified and reach out to them as quickly as possible.

You can also use Engagement Triggers in your New Lead stage to move leads to a made contact stage automatically if they reply to an email or a text.

Or you can use them on any other stages to automatically change stages when the lead engages with your content.

Setting Up Engagement Triggers

First, navigate to your stage by clicking Settings > Pipeline Settings in the lefthand sidebar.

Click into the stage you want to set up engagement triggers in.

Click the Workflow Settings button on the right.

In the popup that appears, there's a section at the bottom under the heading Auto Advance When Any of the Following Are True. This is where we'll configure our Engagement Triggers.

You can set any or all of the triggers (Note that only one of them will need to be true for LeadSimple to move them to the stage you set):

Click Save and you're done!

Lead Opens Email: It's fair to say that most people don't open a single email more than twice unless they're very interested in the content of the email. If a lead opens an email three times or more, it's safe to assume that they're an interested party.

Lead Clicks Email Links: The same thing goes for clicking email links. If you go back to an email to click on a link more than once, the odds are high that you care about the content that link brings to you.

Lead Replies to Emails/SMS: There are 2 possible reasons why a lead would reply to one of your emails. 1) They are interested in working with you or 2) they would like to unsubscribe from these emails. Since prospects can easily unsubscribe from your emails using the link in the bottom of each one, it's more likely that they are expressing interest in your services by replying to your email. In light of that, once is a great number to use for this trigger.
