Can leads unsubscribe from my emails?

Learn what happens when leads unsubscribe and how LeadSimple prevents any further emails from being sent to them.

LeadSimple includes an unsubscribe link in every automatic email sent through the system (in sales workflow emails, not process-related automatic emails).

When a lead unsubscribes from your emails, you will receive an email letting you know that the lead unsubscribed. When you click into their record page, you will see a banner warning you that they unsubscribed on a certain date.

The system will also not generate any more email or text tasks on this lead.

View All Unsubscribed Leads/Contacts in a Pipeline

To view all unsubscribed contacts in a pipeline, filter by "Tagged With Any."

Then filter by Unsubscribed, click Save, and this view will pull up all leads who've unsubscribed in your pipelines.

Wrong Email Address Causes Unsubscribe

If LeadSimple sends an email to any contact email and it bounces back (whether in a sales pipeline or a process), this will generate an unsubscribe.

When this happens, you'll be able to see the reason why the email was not delivered by going to the lead page. Once you're there you'll see a notification called "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" Eg:

This notification will show you why the message was not delivered so you can contact the lead or client and get an updated email address, if they're a current client, update their email address in your property management software as well (that way their new address will sync over when the reports are sent).

If the client or lead has more than one email address and you aren't sure which is incorrect, please reach out to us via the chat icon in your account or email support@leadsimple.com so we can put in a request for our development team to see which email address is the culprit.

Once you have the correct email address for the lead or client, you can resubscribe them (keep reading below).

Resubscribing a Lead

It is possible to resubscribe a lead, but you may only resubscribe a lead if you have their permission. You can do this by clicking the Resubscribe button on their lead record page.

Leads may also resubscribe themselves by clicking on the unsubscribe link in an email (the same link they used to unsubscribe).
