You can set up your UTM parameters from your Google ad or other marketing campaigns to pull into LeadSimple.
UTM parameters are specific additions to links that allow you to create unique links for different campaigns. You can add up to five parameters (source, campaign, medium, term, and content). These parameters can be used to track how many leads come from a specific campaign.
The steps are to:
1. Pull the UTM parameters out of the URL the lead used to get to your landing page
2. Send them through to LeadSimple
3. Filter, search, and sort your leads by those UTM fields to track your paid marketing campaigns
β
Step 1: Pull the UTM parameters from the URL
The first step is to get the UTM parameters out of the URL and into hidden fields in your web form. It depends on what web provider you use, but this typically involves some Javascript on the webpage and in the web form itself to look for and auto populate the UTM parameters. Your web support should be able to help with this, but ChatGPT is an incredible resource for this as well.
β
Add hidden fields for each parameter you use in the form (source, campaign, medium, etc). Ensure that the names of these hidden fields have clear names.
Add some Javascript to the page before the body tag to collect the UTM parameters from the URL
Add some Javascript to the form to take those UTM parameters and map them to the correct hidden fields
Step 2: Send Parameters to LeadSimple
Once that's complete and the form is collecting the UTM parameters, they should be included in the form submission email that is sent automatically to LeadSimple.

Step 3: Add Custom Fields for the Parameters
Next, add custom fields for each parameter type (Medium, Campaign, Source, Term, and Content). Make sure that the names of these custom fields exactly match the names of the hidden fields in your form.
The custom fields should be multiple choice fields if you would like to filter your leads by them. Add all the options you will use in your marketing campaigns (you can also add more later).
Note that the multiple choice options in LeadSimple must match the options you use in your links exactly to ensure that the parser will pick them up accurately. They also must be lowercase because you can only use lowercase letters in UTM links.
Step 4: Reach out to Support
The final step is to ensure that our parsers pick up your hidden fields out of the emails. Reach out to us directly at support@leadsimple.com, referencing this article, and we can adjust our parser if needed to pull that data for you and put it into custom fields in LeadSimple which can be sorted and filtered.
