Already own a phone number through a different service and want to use it in LeadSimple? Read on to learn more about the pros and cons of porting a number into LeadSimple and also how to do it.

Please note that if you port a phone number over into LeadSimple, you won't be able to continue to use it with your previous phone service.

Pros of porting over a phone number into LeadSimple

Porting a phone number over into LeadSimple allows you to:

  • Send and receive texts through LeadSimple to and from that phone number. (note that this requires that the phone number is a mobile enabled number)

  • Track inbound calls made to the phone number automatically. (Outbound calls are tracked automatically even when a phone number is hosted on a different platform. Learn more about outbound calls here.)

Cons of porting over a phone number into LeadSimple

Note that porting a phone number into LeadSimple means:

  • You can no longer use the phone number on any other service you used the phone number with previously.

How to Port a Phone Number into LeadSimple

Note that this process can take up to 4 weeks, during which time you will still be able to use the phone number with the previous service.

Step 1: Collect the Necessary Documentation & Info

You'll need to collect the following documents:

  • The phone number's authorized user or owner’s first and last name

  • The corresponding service address. This must be an actual physical address. PO Boxes are not valid addresses.

  • A Letter of Authorization (LOA) signed by the authorized user and/or owner of the number(s). Note that the information on the LOA must match the authorized user name and service address provided by your current carrier

  • A Customer Service Record (CSR) which you'll need to obtain from your current carrier

  • A scanned (or electronic) copy of the most recent phone bill, within the last 30 days, that includes the account, owner/authorized user name, and address information for all the numbers you’d like to port

  • Wireless Account Number and PIN (alternatively, if there’s no PIN you can use the last 4 digits of your SSN)

Step 2: Provide the Documentation to LeadSimple

Once you've collected the above information, email us at LeadSimple at support@leadsimple.com and include all the documents outlined above.

Once we receive your email, we'll start the process of requesting the port. After our phone provider Twilio has approved it (note that they can reject it), they will give us a date on which the phone will stop working through your current carrier and can start being used through LeadSimple.

We will let you know when this is going to happen as soon as Twilio tells us.

Step 3: Begin Using the Phone Number in LeadSimple

Once you hear back from us on when the number can be used in LeadSimple, start using the phone number to send and receive text messages and track your calls in LeadSimple!
