Have you received a call, text or email from a lead or client and wonder why it's not tracking on the pipeline or process page? This is probably due to the Relevant communication tracking setting.

Relevant vs. Broad Tracking

For both pipelines and processes, Relevant tracking only displays communications that started on the lead or process.

Example: If you initiate a text, email, or phone call from the lead's page or the process page, that activity will be tracked on the lead or process page. If you reply to the text or email from your email inbox, or receive a phone call from a contact, this will not be tracked on the lead or process page because there's no way for LeadSimple to know it's tied to that lead or process.

Broad Tracking displays all possibly-related communications from associated contacts on the lead or process.

Example: No matter where you respond to a text, phone call, or email from (if your email account is connected to LeadSimple), the communication will be tracked.

When to Use Broad & When to Use Relevant Tracking

Relevant tracking allows your lead or process page to be much less cluttered (ex: an email from an owner about 123 Test Drive won't show up on the lease renewal process for 654 Experiment Way, which they also own).

However, the con is that unless the communication is started from the lead or process page, it won't be tracked.

Broad tracking allows everything to be tracked, no matter where the communication is initiated from.

However, this can include a lot of unnecessary activity on a lead or process page (ex: an email from an owner about 123 Test Drive can show up on the process page of a lease renewal for 654 Experiment Way, which they also own).

Changing the Relevant or Broad Tracking Settings

These steps apply to either sales pipelines or processes. We'll use a pipeline for this example.

Go to Settings.

Click General.

In General, scroll down until you see "Communication Tracking."

Click on the dropdown to choose between Broad or Relevant.

And you're done! If you have additional questions about how this works, please reach out to us via chat or support@leadsimple.com and we'll be happy to answer your questions.
