Merge Your Buildium API Data with Buildium old PMSync data

If you connected LeadSimple to Buildium via our native integration, you may need to merge that data with your existing PMSync data.

Hey there! This article is relevant to you if you integrated your LeadSimple account with Buildium using PMSync, but recently re-integrated with Buildium using our direct integration with their API.

If you are a new account just looking to get started with the direct integration, go here!

With that out of the way, we're going to explain how to merge your old Buildium/PMSync owners, tenants, vendors, etc... with your new data synced from Buildium via API. We'll also explain what will happen during the merge.

Why merge my old data with the new data from Buildium?

There are two great reasons why you should do this.

  1. You don't want duplicate data in your LeadSimple account. It causes confusion, extra work, and inefficiencies.

  2. Buildium will only update the records that it imports from the API. The old data will not receive updates and will quickly become out of date.

As a result, we are migrating all accounts that use Buildium to use the new direct integration.

How to merge your old data with the new data

You'll need to be an admin on the account to do this (see user permissions).

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Buildium

  2. Read the banner at the top of the page. It may tell you to sync your data from Buildium again before you can merge. If so, follow these instructions to do so.

  3. Otherwise, click the "Merge" button that's displayed in the banner

And that's it! You'll get an alert in LeadSimple when the merge is finished.

What will happen during the merge?

When you perform a merge, LeadSimple will merge the old contacts, properties, units, and deals (owner, tenant, vendor) that were synced from Buildium via PMSync with the new data synced from Buildium via API.

It also adds the word "OLD" to the beginning of the names of your old owner, tenant, and vendor pipelines from PMSync so you can differentiate them from the new Buildium pipelines.

What won't the merge do?

LeadSimple will not do the following things during the merge:

  • It does not delete the pipelines that PMSync was using. This allows you to keep them if you want, or transfer saved views and stages to the new owner/tenant/vendor pipelines.

  • It does not copy any workflow steps or saved views from the PMSync pipelines.

  • It does not delete your PMSync integration, it is still there in a paused state. You can delete it yourself by navigating to Settings > Integrations > Property Management Software.

What about the data that can't be merged?

There might be a few Buildium owners, tenants, and vendors that LeadSimple can't merge with the new Buildium data from their API. This is likely because the IDs of those old records do not match the IDs of any owners, tenants, or vendors in Buildium.

But it's really easy to merge these manually. Follow these instructions to do so.
